Wikipedia:WikiProject Stargate/Participants

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to the project!

Thanks for joining the Stargate WikiProject. We hope you like it here and become an active member! The project aims to be the best resource for Stargate anywhere on the internet, but remembering that it is in a factual encyclopedia, with standards of citing sources for information, notability, no original research and requiring a neutral point of view.

What you can do

There is always something you can help out on in the WikiProject.

Things to do

Current projects

  1. Create/write/expand all episode articles, making sure they all adhere to the style sheet.
  2. Create a high-quality body of major articles that cover the most important aspects of Stargate in an encyclopedic way.
  3. Provide a small body of decent, major articles for WP:1.0 per their criteria.
  4. Get an article Featured.

Ongoing tasks

  1. Work on Category:Stargate stubs and Articles with tasks
  2. Remember: don't treat Stargate as real; write from an out-of-universe perspective.
  3. Add verifiable external references to as many Stargate articles as possible.
  4. Add fair use rationales to all images, particularly screenshots.
  5. Make sure all episode citations are like this: "Lost City" (SG-1). (The show disambiguation is optional when it's obvious).
  6. Strip away fancruft pages, merge stubs into more informative articles.
  7. Add {{stargateproject}} to the Talk pages of all Stargate articles.

Misc. messages

  • Noticed a lot of the SG-1/Atlantis episode pages lack consistency in their headings and subheadings. Should consider coordinating and designing a standard layout for episode pages. - Count23 14:07, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Done: Checked and made sure that all SG-1 S1-S10 eps and SGA S1-S3 eps can easily be found via the wiki search (or by extention through disambiguation pages etc.) based on just the ep name. – sgeureka tc 11:01, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Five Pillars

The following are the five basic rules you need to consider as a WikiProject Stargate editor.

  1. We want our articles to be significant and meaningful, not fancruft or about minor things.
  2. We want to avoid treating Stargate as if it is real.
  3. We want everything we say to have verifiable external sources.
  4. We want the Stargate database on Wikipedia to be comprehensive and navigable.
  5. We want our articles to be interesting and understood by an outside reader.

Help improve the database

The best way to help out if you're a new contributor is to adopt an article. Browse through our Stargate database and when you come to a bad article, make it better; and if the article really has potential, adopt it. This means that you'll work on that article for a while, until you've made it really good, and a valuable addition to the Stargate articles on Wikipedia.

The below template will aid your navigation through our articles on Stargate:
