[edit] About

WikiProject Stargate Featured Articles are not (necessarily) Featured articles on Wikipedia. Becoming a project-Featured article does not influence that in any way. The project's Featured-article system is a tool for promoting higher quality articles with specific appreciation within the project, and helps us build a body of very good articles that could then go on to be genuine Wikipedia Featured articles.

[edit] Process

  • The next Featured article is discussed on the talk page.
  • When there is a consensus:
    1. Remove the successful nomination section from the discussion page.
    2. Add the code {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Stargate/Featured}} to the top of the Talk page of the new Featured article.
    3. edit the Project page's Featured article section.
      • Update:
        1. Change the title and image to match the new Featured article.
        2. Replace the content with a snippet from the lead section of the new Featured article.
      • Archive:
        1. Now copy the entire contents of the updated section (except the heading right at the top).
        2. Paste that at the end of the archive, with a heading of the article's title.

[edit] Criteria

Project Featured articles must represent the best that WikiProject Stargate has to offer, but (although not necessarily) are as yet unrecognised by Wikipedia as Featured status. They do not have to be the same standard as a normal Featured article on Wikipedia.

[edit] Nomination

To nominate a new Stargate article for Featured status, put its name after the text in the box below:

e.g.  Wikipedia:WikiProject Stargate/Featured/Stargate

Click "Nominate" and follow the instructions. In case you miss them, they are repeated here. Once you've saved your new nomination page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stargate/Featured/ARTICLE NAME, add the code {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Stargate/Featured/ARTICLE NAME}} to the top of this page here.

[edit] DNA Resequencer

DNA Resequencer

In the fictional universe of the science fiction TV show Stargate SG-1, the DNA Resequencer was a device used by the Ancients to artificially evolve people to an extremely advanced state. If used enough, it could give users supernatural abilities, and eventually even Ascend a subject. It may be the reason why some Ancients have been shown to possess the abilities of telekinesis, telepathy, super-human senses and strength, supernatural health and self healing, perfect memories, and the power to heal by touch. The show has implied that many more, (if not all), Ancients had these abilities. It also may be one of the ways that some of the Ancients Ascended. The show explained that the device worked by realigning a subject's DNA and upgrading their brain activity. With the use of the machine, dormant areas of the brain activate, upgrading the user's abilities. In the episode "Prophecy", Samantha Carter stated that after Jonas Quinn used the device, the neurons in his brain were five times more densely packed.

[edit] Stargate (device)

Stargate

Stargates, as depicted in the Stargate science fiction universe, are large, ring-shaped devices that use advanced technology for nearly instantaneous personal travel across the vast distances of space. They first appeared in the 1994 film Stargate, directed by Roland Emmerich, and then were redesigned to subsequently appear in the television series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis (as well as the animated series Stargate Infinity). The Stargate is the central plot generator of these productions, allowing for stories focused on a small team of protagonists exploring other planets and meeting other races on foot, rather than the more prevalent, grandiose "space opera" of interstellar starships seen elsewhere in science fiction.
