Spirituality takes a stand on the unity of God. It investigates and discovers that God is one and goes on forming each successive stage of harmony from individual consciousness to the pure consciousness that is within every person. Spirituality uses symbolic and scientific language to demystify the oneness of “life”, “Reality” and “God”, but also to make them an experience to be lived and consciously participated in so they cease to be concepts. Life can be complete and experienced in its totality according to mystics if we make God a vital part in our modern society. God is connected to our lives through the one all pervading medium of pure consciousness. He/She is not a separate God because He is closer to us than we are to ourselves. Spirituality expresses that this consciousness is in the history and science of the world and in every aspect of the universe on all levels of existence from the simplest life forms to the most advanced. To discover God in everything mystics say our minds must play a vital part to use the wealth of our scientific discoveries, be conscious of their limitations and attempt to bring an outlook to society that stands up to the problems of life. God is in the world in these problems and differences, mysticism says they are there to test us and transform these problems into good. Christian mystics as well as mystics from other faiths face up to and make conscious the ills of society inorder to solve them and see God's pure consciousness, the inner source of life moving through and around obstacles from the inorganic to the organic, from the organic to the mind and forward from the mind to the soul. The pure consciousness within shows the spiritualist that God is not far removed from us, but with us in the here and now. Jesus also said this when he gave us the saying; The Kingdom of God is within.
