[edit] Goals
- To improve Wikipedia's coverage of poker in general.
- To create articles on every notable poker player.
- To improve existing poker articles and get articles to featured standard.
[edit] Attacks
Please list below any pages that are particularly prone to spam or vandalisation below. If you have space, please keep an eye out for these pages by adding them to your Watchlist and reverting any questionable changes.
[edit] Spam
- Poker
- Online poker
- PartyGaming
- Bodog
- Doyle Brunson
- Phil Hellmuth - anon continually spamming his empty website in external links
- Rake (poker) - and various redirected articles intended to promote/spam
[edit] Vandalism
- Bill Frist, Jim Leach, Jon Kyl, Robert Goodlatte - supporters continue to remove mention of this group's role in the banning of online poker
- Chris Moneymaker
- Jamie Gold
- Tiffany Williamson
- Todd Witteles
- Anurag Dikshit - several recent vandalisms due to ongoing tournament cheating incidents
- Two Plus Two Publishing
- Online poker - strange person repeatedly blanking a non-controversial section
[edit] Tasks
[edit] Outstanding
NB: These tasks are not necessarily in order of priority.
- Add results for Poker Royale. Difficult to come by the results on the web. Will keep an eye out for broadcasts though. (see also Talk:Poker Royale)
- Expand articles on World Series of Poker commentators Lon McEachern and Norman Chad. Currently, both are stubs. Chad's article in particular, could be embellished with some of his better quotes.
- Make World Series of Poker and Poker into featured article candidates. (long term goal) --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 19:50, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- Archive some discussions on WikiProject Talk page to reduce page size.
- Create Poker table page and/or upgrade section in Poker equipment. Needs a photo to help point out features of the table. Would be nice to get a photo of a table with a betting line.
- Sort out NPOV on Justin Bonomo. Essexmutant 18:38, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Probably need to add a disambiguation page for Perry Green. At present, it defaults to a page about a place in England. Perry was a pretty heavy hitter in the earlier days of WSOP, three bracelets, 2nd to Ungar in the 81 ME, still cashing pretty regularly to this day (went pretty deep into the '06 WSOP $3K Omaha Hi/Lo) --FactsAndHonesty 05:06, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] In progress
- Expand Poker probability (Texas hold 'em). Please add any suggestions of what probabilities to discuss or how to improve the article on the talk page.
- Add images to poker players
- Add more detail about dealing procedures and irregularities. (In progress by LDC)
- Two Plus Two Publishing is in the process of being expanded.
- Remove pervasive metaphor likening Super System to The Bible.
- Expand Poker probability (Omaha). (In progress by Doug Bell.) Please add any suggestions of what probabilities to discuss or how to improve the article on the talk page.

[edit] Not actioned
- There is alot of spam, on nearly every poker players page linking to the Hendon mob, I have removed where seen but there is alot more. (anonymous comment added by 194.237.142.21.)
-
- Links to Hendon Mob are common practice for poker player articles as a citation for live tournament winnings. I have reverted the links you have removed. Essexmutant 11:18, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Adopt an article
Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
- Example article: User:Example
- I think a collaboration would be a good idea. I don't think a formal voting system is needed until we get more participants, but we could use this area to suggest articles to work on. I think Doyle Brunson would be a good one to start with as there's plenty of easily-available info on him - there are the biographical sections in SS1 and 2 and quite a few stories about him in Slim's biography.

- (Deleted) Please follow the afd link from Toronto poker…. This [user] changed the Daniel Negreanu and Evelyn Ng "official site" links …. 2005 06:25, 25 March 2006 (UTC) modified by MSchmahl 10:40, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- (Merged and redirected to Public cardroom rules (poker)) Public cardroom etiquette (poker) has sort of been nominated by an anon, although no actual entry was made. Etiquette is somewhat subjective so perhaps it should be gotten rid of, but there are also other Wiki etiquette articles. The page could just be redirected to Public cardroom rules (poker) and etiquette not dealt with besides a sentence saying that it exists. 2005 01:57, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Copy-vio from [1]? If someone wants to get it speedied, so much the better. If not, I'll take a further look at it later today. Essexmutant 09:36, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- No, it's the other way around. The blackjackpointers site has stolen from more than one Wikipedia article. 2005 10:10, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with 2005. The blackjackpointers page is taken verbatim from this revision of the public cardroom etiquette article. If it had been vice-versa, the blackjackpointers page would have more resembled the original version of the Wikipedia article. — MSchmahl 11:19, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Fair enough. It's against WikiPolicy to remove the AFD tag, so I've completed the nomination. Feel free to place your opinions here. Essexmutant 17:03, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
