Wikipedia:WikiProject Photography/Photos that need attention
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Graphics Lab has been created on Wikipedia-en. Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Come help us out!
[edit] Purpose
This page has been created for the listing and discussion of photographs that have been deemed as needing attention by Wikipedians involved in WikiProject Photography. These photographs may be sought out by members of the project or brought to the attention of the photo editors by nonmembers. The goal is to beautify any and all photographs that are lacking in quality. Once a poor quality photo has been identified, a photo editor will try to enhance it as much as possible, and will then proceed to re-upload it to Wikipedia. Edits to photographs can be discussed on the talk page. In time, this page will also serve the Wikipedia photography community as a whole, fixing and enhancing photos before they are uploaded.
[edit] What qualifies as "needing attention"?
A number of criteria can be used to identify whether or not a photo is in need of our attention, including, but not limited to:
- The photo is lacking in contrast.
- The photo is lacking in sharpness.
- The photo has an obvious color cast.
- The photo is either very dark or very light.
- The photo is rotated out of place or has a tilted horizon.
- The photo has very high noise levels.
- The highlights or shadows are clipped.
These criteria are merely a guideline, and are certainly not the only things that can go wrong with a photograph, and photographs with problems other than these should certainly be listed here as well.
[edit] List of Photos
Photos should be listed here, along with the article they came from. Once a photo had been improved and re-uploaded, its entry should be marked with a strikethrough, like this.
- Image:Sparkssmall.jpg from Car-free zone- definite tilt and it doesn't make its subject look particularly appealing. -Dhodges 05:27, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- I corrected the tilt and fixed the colours while I was at it. It would be nice to get a better photo though; the resolution is pretty low. --Brad Beattie (talk) 03:11, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
