Welcome to the Neopaganism WikiProject, dedicated to expanding, organizing, verifying, and NPOVing articles related to neopagan religions. Our scope includes hundreds of articles, from Alp-luachra to Zsuzsanna Budapest. If this sounds interesting to you, watch this page and feel free to add your name to the list below!

[edit] Goals of the Project

  1. Through discussion and consensus, determine a standard for the capitalization and hyphenation of "neopagan(ism)" and "pagan(ism)" in articles and apply it consistently. Also, determine what circumstances call for the use of "pagan" vs. "neopagan".
  2. Find source citations for all of the information presented in Neopaganism and Wicca.
  3. Expand Wikipedia's coverage of notable forms of Wiccan people and practices. Populate Category:Wiccan traditions.
  4. Expand Wikipedia's coverage of polytheistic reconstructionist movements and groups. Integrate coverage of the various Germanic movements with other discussion of reconstructionist polytheism. Fill in gaps at Neopaganism#Reconstructionist.
  5. Where necessary, rewrite neopaganism-related articles, especially those related to ethnic traditions widely practiced outside the US and/or in non-English-speaking countries, to represent a more global view.
  6. Verify information in "X in Neopaganism" or "Neopagan views of x" sections of articles on other topics, citing sources and making sure that the information is consistent with that presented in Neopaganism (after that article has been verified, of course!).
  7. Eventually, bring Neopaganism and Wicca to Featured Article status.
  8. Present a clear distinction between Wicca and Reconstructionist Neopaganism, "Neopaganism" is not a synonym for "Wicca" and articles must reflect this for accuracy.

[edit] Article Improvement Drive: Neopaganism

Neopaganism is currently rated as B-class and needs a lot of help. It is the #1 most important article to our project, but it lacks source citations in many places and contains weasel words and phrases. I know that with a little help from everyone on the project, it will be easy to bring Neopaganism to Good Article status. Here are a list of things you can do:

  • Find a "citation needed" tag in the article. Locate a relevant reliable source and insert a source citation.
  • Find a "name a specific person/group" tag and replace it with a reference to a specific person or group.
  • Compare one section or paragraph of the article to Paganism to make sure the two articles are consistent.
  • Evaluate the article against one of the six Good Article criteria.
  • ...or make any other improvements you can think of!

[edit] Assessment department

Badbilltucker has set up a new assessment department for the project at Assessment. This allows us to keep track of article quality and importance so that we can focus our efforts on the articles most in need of help. If you see a talk page template that says the article has not been assessed, please consider giving the article a quick assessment according to the assessment instructions.

  • IPT green button campaign or some variant of this name, referring to the letter that started it, by Barbara Fogle aka Saoba, and the events that followed the original publication of the letter in Green Egg (?). I have the text of the letter, but have found several versions on the net, most without Barbara's signature. Unsure whether Saoba should have her own page or simply a paragraph on the IPT page.
