Please see the discussion at WP talk: Reviewing 1911

Below is a list of articles that have the {{1911}} reference template or were included in the original listing of article topics, that may have inadequate or outdated information. While the 1911 edition of Britannica was one of the most complete encyclopedia of its era, some parts have become dated as territories have changed, technology improved and prevailing attitudes have changed.

Please verify that each of the articles has updated coverage before removing the item from the list. Also, if the article does derive from the encyclopedia, make sure it has the {{1911}} tag in its References section. It may be helpful to note on the article's talk page any significant differences in the comprehensiveness of our article as compared to the 1911 article.

If you do not correct an article at this time, but want to tag it for later review, you can use one of these templates in the article's main page or talk page and remove it from these lists:

  • {{1911POV}}: substantially a copy of 1911, with a serious POV problem
  • {{Update-eb}}: substantially a copy of 1911, and needs to be updated for other reasons
  • {{Ni-eb}}: seriously deficient, and could be improved with a transfusion of 1911 text
  • {{Include-eb}}: basically sound, but could usefully have 1911 text added to it

Eventually, tagged articles should be fixed. They can be found in Category:1911 Britannica articles needing updates or Category:Articles needing improvement from EB1911. When the article has been fixed, the template can be removed. It would be polite to leave a note on the talk page.

See the guidelines at the project page for detailed instructions on creating new articles.
