- name – the formal name of the submarine.
- image – optional – an image of the submarine, given in the form [[Image:Example.jpg|300px]]; in particular, the thumb attribute must not be selected.
- caption – optional – the text to be placed below the image.
- country – optional – the country whose armed forces the submarine is part of.
- branch – optional – the service branch operating the submarine.
- type – optional – the general type of submarine.
- fieldpost number – optional – the fieldpost number given to the submarine.
- shipyard – optional – the shipyard that built the submarine.
- yard number – optional – the yard number given by the shipyard for the submarine.
- ordered – optional – the date on which the submarine was ordered.
- laid down – optional – the date on which the submarine keel was laid down.
- launched – optional – the date on which the submarine was launched.
- commissioned – optional – the date on which the submarine was commissioned.
- number of patrols – optional – the number of patrols the submarine conducted.
- flotillas – optional – the flotillas, if any, which the submarine was part of.
