The Indian butterflies wikibase deals with approximately 1000 Indian butterflies and is an ongoing project. The aim of the wikibase is to form a useful resource for the global public, in general, and amateur Indian naturalists, in particular. The articles authored for this project are named on the basis of the scientific names of the species they describe.

This endeavour is being supported by a number of well-wishers who have donated images, guidance, resources and information.
