Introduction

This WikiProject was formed to foster better articles on the English county of Kent and the Kent Portal.

This page and its subpages contain suggestions on formatting and layout of articles, which can be discussed at the project's talk page. Anyone who is interested in contributing, please sign up.

Announcements

• 31 March 2007 - After the first assessment of Kent-related articles, there are 953 in total
• 25 February 2007 - The WikiProject finished its first collaboration on the "Kent" article
• 3 February 2007 - WikiProject Kent started
• 8 December 2006 - Kent Portal created

• Clem Rutter- keen that Medway is fairly represented, former City Councillor in Rochester with too many local history books.
• ColinBoylett - Almost an outsider living just over the border, Etchingham East Sussex, but the westetrn parts of Kent, Hawkhurst, Cranbrook and adjacent areas are of interest to me, and I may be able to contribute to these locations. ColinBoylett 19:30, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
• KevinCarmody - Though I currently live in Oxford I am here as a representative of Thanet
• Lynbarn: Born over the river in Essex, I've spent most of my life in Kent, and now live in Aylesford I'm particularly interested in Railways and Education in the county.
• MortimerCat - An outsider! I live in Eastbourne^{See sample of my work}, East Sussex, although Dungeness is just down the road. I have an interest in local histories, photography. I have specialist knowledge in local government and national government.
• Oakcat Hedge-e-me-kated in the fields around Sandwich...! Happy to help with east Kent villages and Thanet. Former British Rail Station Manager currently updating various East Kent Railway Station Village entries, e.g. Woodnesborough. A bit of a newbie on wiki - could do with some practical assistance in understanding upload and formatting issues. Owner of the House at Plucks Gutter.
• Olive Oil 09:01, 10 February 2007 (UTC) Ashford and surrounds, but generally involved in the county of Kent
• Pickle - "Home" is Walderslade, and the surounding Medway area. Been over large parts of Kent - specailism is transport and military realted stuff. I'm also au fait with infoboxes, if we want to make some up (or modify).

The project categorizes articles according to the WP 1.0 criteria:

• Featured Articles: need little or no work.
• 'A' class: need a very small amount of work, followed by FA nomination.
• Good Articles: a little more work required.
• 'B' class: a lot of work done, but a lot of work left to do.
• Start class: short, lacks details, key facts, illustration, etc.
• Stub class: very short, lacking important details.

Please place the {{WP:Kent}} template on the Talk page of all Kent related articles using the syntax

• class can be (FA, A, GA, Articles have to be nominated and assessed to achieve GA status or higher) B, Start, Stub, (NA for Non-articles such as Templates or Disambiguation pages) or left unused for Unassessed
• importance can be Top, High, Mid, Low, No or left unused for Unknown

This template will place articles within the Category:WikiProject Kent articles and also within the relevant categorys relating to quality and importance.

Note Please use the WP 1.0 criteria as shown on the instructions page and the importance grade relates to Kent and how useful the page is to an outsider researching the county, for example the Kent article could be rated "Top" for our grading, "Mid" for Englands grading and "No" for Scotlands.

After the template has been graded and then saved use the template and add comments as to how the article could be improved, even if it is only a few lines relating to expansion or additional photos, trying to be specific for each article.
