[edit] SJIEG WikiProject
The acronym SJIEG stands for the Secular Judaic Information Editors' Guild. SJIEG is a writers' guild specifically intended for Wikipedia editors of Wikipedia information relating to Judaismm.
[edit] Mission Statement
SJIEG's mission is to:
- Ensure Judaism related articles on Wikipedia are written in an encyclopedic style free from apologetics and sympathetic POV.
- Document and include, in a neutral manner, the known objective facts about Islam and related subjects, through our parent project, Wikipedia:WikiProject Judaism
- Increase editing collaboration between like-minded editors of Wikipedia information relating to Judaism
- Form a network of editors to facilitate the exchange of ideas, research, and information resources
- Seek understanding and collaboration, in good faith and civility, with all Jews Wikipedia editors and apologetics writers, in particular
[edit] How SJIEG Works
The idea behind SJIEG is simple. In order to become a member, an editor needs to simply leave his or her username in the current members list below. This will lead to the formation of a collaborative network of editors, and the project talk page will serve as a point of communication between all members.
[edit] SJIEG Policies
SJIEG members should:
-
- be adequately familiar with one or more subjects related to Judaism
- not have an apologetic point-of-view towards Islam
- abide by the Wikipedia code of conduct
Any registered Wikipedia editor may become a SJIEG member.
Although SJIEG carries the word "secular" in its name, SJIEG does not oppose the inclusion of members of any faith, and SJIEG does actively seek Jewish members who can represent traditional Judaic beliefs. The word "secular" in the name "SJIEG" refers to the fact that SJIEG is a secular organization (as opposed to being an Judaic organization).
