Wikipedia:WikiProject Irish Music
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome to the Irish Music WikiProject!
- Goals
- Improve Wikipedia's coverage of Irish music (from traditional to folk, from rock to electronic and everything in between), as well as the bands/musicians who play it.
- Create guidelines for articles about Irish music.
- Scope
- The project covers all articles about Irish music, musicians, singles, albums, related publications and broadcasts and the scene in general.
Progress can be viewed and recorded at the Project Log. Try and record everything you do regarding the project, just so we can keep track of how things are going.

- NaLaochra (founder) - Into the modern scene, thought the coverage of some Irish artists on here was fairly weak so decided to give this a go.
- Kaini - this ought to be interesting, my first time working with a wikiproject. i think a small infobox for user pages is in order too. i'll get to it...
- Philbo84 16:50, 15 September 2006 (UTC) - Interested in the modern Irish music scene from international bands right down to local city bands.
- Craig Stuntz I only tend to work on traditional music; I have little interest in pop, rock, etc.
- TheDecline I'll add things from time to time when ive had a good think about them.
- Gramscis cousin I've only had time to add some stuff but will try to add more. Interests all music.
- Downunda Mostly interested in 70s, 80s and 90s rock. Will try to contribute where I can
- Airwave Hi, I have worked in Irish music (every type but mostly 'rock') for many years. This is a good idea. I will try to help out when I can.
- ReverendG I've made a few album pages and plan to continue.
- Irish rover I have made changes to a lot of the traditional, rock and others. I want to help more.
- Candlewicke - updated and improved a lot of articles to do with Irish music: bands such as Humanzi, The Blizzards, The Revs, Boss Volenti and Royseven but also other music articles including Electric Picnic, 2fm and Meteors; most regular are Oxegen and Hot Press.
- DoktorDec - Mainly interested in the Irish rock music scene from the 1990's to present. I recently authored the article Juniper (band).
[edit] Open tasks
- Whipping Boy (Irish band)
- Improve the article.
- General page about Music of Ireland.
- The existing one is all about trad and sean-nós, and even the 'modern' section seems more focussed on Enya than anything else - just have a look at the section, "Late 20th century: Rock and More..." - it's rather misdirected and doesn't give any impression whatsoever of what the scene is actually like.
- Perhaps a separate page for the Irish music scene as it is today and has been over the past few years, and leave the Music of Ireland page to deal with traditional music and the history of music here. I've begun a topic on the talk page to discuss this.
- At present Music of England specifically deals with English traditional music, whilst Music of France is a much more general article. Achieving some degree of consistency between 'Music of...' articles is not exactly within the scope of this WikiProject, but it would be desirable. See Talk:Music of Ireland#contemporary vs traditional irish music.
- Toasted Heretic
- Improve the article.
- Warlords of Pez
- Improve The Article.
- The Hitchers
- General improvement needed. Specifically, there is a question of neutrality and various sources are missing.
- Vyvienne Long
- all contributions appreciated.
- Juniper (band)
- Revisions welcome.
