This page is just a discussion page about the new Guitar equipment task force. Please share your thoughts here.

Contents

[edit] Main Background

The project will cover musical instruments or equipment like guitars, basses and if possible, effects, amps, etc. The infobox for guitars has been created and ready to use. However, if we'd like to expand this project to other equipments, many new infobox have to be made. I feel we should keep this project inside the WikiProject Guitar so that we can gain much attention and have recruited many contributors.

[edit] To-do

  • The most important thing is to make a good name
  • Create a list of instruments' articles to make (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, etc.) please be specific
  • Create the infoboxes for the instruments on the first to-do
  • Create the project's userbox
  • Create the article's talk page template
  • Decide whether we should separate it from the WikiProject Guitarists or not

Please add more relevant points

[edit] Progress

[edit] Project userbox

The project's userbox has been made (by me!), please give your feedback and suggestion. Btw, I modified it from the Coke and Pepsi userbox :)

[edit] Talk page template

This will be the talk page template, but we still need to change the links after the discussion has finished. Again, please give feedback and suggestion.

[edit] Userbox and template coment

Image choice is OK. I thought an amp/pedal combo might look good...and...also contrast the main project boxes...but an amp pic loses clarity when shrunk down into the boxes. I noticed that the template says Equipment and the userbox says Equipments? Should the userbox lose the 's'? My other thought is...even with the pics....the title "WikiProject Equipment" is a little vague. But, in the case of the Userbox anyways, "WikiProject Guitar Equipment"....is a little long. I'll paste alt-title/alt-pic versions below to show the difference.

Is that title too long? Is there an alternative title? Amp pic too small? Opinions? Anger22 08:54, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

I just thought we sould make the boxes (userpage and talk page) similar to the main project, thus, I keep the fender tele's head there. What do you think about that. About the name, yeah, I agree, WikiProject Equipment sounds a bit odd, probably WikiProject Guitar Equipment is better. However, since I reckon this is not just for guitar, what about WikiProject Musical Intrument? or WikiProject MI maybe?? Imoeng 11:02, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Infoboxes

  • The guitar infobox has been done with explanations, please give feedback here.
  • I'm not really good at amplifiers, so probably someone can give me a brief explanation about the variety so I can make the infobox. Or if someone can create the infobox, that will be awesome!
