[edit] Structure

The article should start with a good introduction, giving the name of the governorate in both Roman and Arabic letters, its location in it's country, and the names of neighbouring districts resp. countries. Eventually the source or meaning of the governorate name can be added.

The factsheet includes (see: Template:Infobox GCC Governorate):

   * The capital
   * Area, population and population density; if possible, state the year, when the population was valid.
   * ISO 3166-2 code.
   * A map of the country of with the selected governorate highlighted.

The rest of the article consists of the following paragraphs:

History: Historical events related to the governorate, even if they occurred before the establishment of the governorate. If these are already covered in more detail in another article only write a short introduction with the link to that article.

Geography: Describe the geographical features within the governorate (mountains, islands etc.).

Demographics: If there are any specialities about the population in the province it should be listed here - for example a significant number of ethnic minorities. However for most governorates this section can be left out.

Symbols: If a governorate has a seal and a flag, and if a good and free image of it can be found it should be added.

When applying the template below, you should change the table according to the situation in this Governorate.

Miscellaneous: Anything, that does not fit in the above categories; normally this section should be dropped.

[edit] Adopt an article

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
