Wikipedia:WikiProject Foodservice

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WikiProject Foodservice was formed in July 2006 to provide Wikipedians with information related to the foodservice industry, restaurants, quick-service restaurants, catering, and other parts of the professional food industry.

This page and its subpages contain the suggestions of Wikipedians who are actively involved or employed in the foodservice industry, whether as managers, operations support personnel, buyers, health inspectors, or other people with an interest in foodservice operations.

WikiProject Foodservice

[edit] Scope

My vision for WikiProject Foodservice is to have a complete resource on restaurants, eateries, and foodservice in general from individual restaurant chains and major restaurants to equipment vendors and health codes. In general, the scope of this project is to find and improve every restaurant and foodservice article on Wikipedia to the point where they could become featured articles.

It will also serve to develop policy consensus material for any related article, where necessary.

[edit] Structure

Keeping with the restaurant/foodservice theme, the WikiProject is divided into several different parts and functions:

  • Operations: Devoted to restaurants, eateries, catering companies, and other foodservice entities. Operations tags and develops articles having to do with individual companies and brands.
  • Practices: Devoted to writing articles around best standards, i.e. Balanced Scorecard, Operational Flow-Through
  • Equipment: Devoted to developing and tagging articles on equipment used in restaurant and foodservice operations.
  • Health and Safety: Devoted to working on, tagging, and developing articles having to do with regulatory requirements for eateries and foodservice operations.

[edit] To do

  • Create a WikiProject Foodservice template.
  • Tag articles within involved categories.
  • Define template categories.
  • Recruit other interested parties.
  • Continue with soft rollout until at least fifty articles are tagged, categorized, and an appropriate system is worked out.
  • Link to main WikiProject page for advertisement and hard rollout.
