Project News

• Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals currently has a new proposal for Wikiproject Actors and Filmmakers, a descendant project of both WP:Films and WP:Biography. Please join in the discussion for the implementation of this new project.
• We have now reached over 22,000 film articles that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class and importance.
• There are now two new ways to help make the assessment of film articles even easier. On the main project page, there is a link to User:AlexNewArtBot/CinemaSearchResult, where all newly created articles that possibly pertain to WP:Films are compiled in a list, using a bot that searches for select key words. In addition, a new script has been developed at User talk:Outriggr/metadatatest.js that allows articles to be assessed at a quicker rate. If you want to become more involved in assessing articles, please be sure to check out these new features.
• We have a new department this month, List and navigation management, which will help us to improve the quality of our film lists and navigational templates through the standardization of formatting and content. Since it is brand new, the department needs input from as many members as possible to help ensure consensus and establish acceptable guidelines. Please stop by and join the discussions.
• The Collaboration Department has finished Un chien andalou earlier this week (improvements) and started Casino Royale (2006 film) on Saturday. The current collaboration is already a good article and may get close to a featured article by the time we are done with it! The Collaboration Department has also helped with many of the most recent articles featured in our Spotlight Update.
• The infobox requests are slowly going down, but there are still around 2050 requests. It would benefit from more participation.
• Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA and FA status in March 2007. This month, we have reached over 50 current GA articles.

• New members to the project include Gr8lyknow, Rje, Downending, Whataboutbob, Fbv65edel, StuartDouglas, Natthegreat, Qjuad, Theorb, MFrog, KingPenguin, Doctor Sunshine, DavidShankBone, Psicorps, Cott12, Pvd21, Polymathematics, Gillian416, and Zosimus Comes.
• We also had two members depart from the project: Dev920 & Gflores.
• Recipients of the WikiProject Films Award:
  • Benjwong - for steadily filling up and creating many articles about Chinese animated films over the past several months; something that nobody else has been doing
  • Crzycheetah - for dedicated efforts in tagging hundreds of film articles with infobox/image requests, adding infoboxes, and assessing the quality of various articles.
