Project News

• Two new templates have been created to alert editors on how to improve film articles. Add {{needs film infobox}} for an article that is missing an infobox and {{film needs synopsis}} for an article that needs a plot summary for the film. Both templates go on the talk page on the film article and once the information is added, the templates can be removed. Talk pages that have these templates are accessible from Category:Articles that need a film infobox and Category:Films that need a synopsis. So if you are looking from something to do, go there!

• We are introducing a new department this month, Spotlight. This department will show articles and members that we are especially proud of or achievements that the project or its members have made. One of the key features of this new department is a listing of the project's featured and good articles. In addition to have the listing on the department page, Spotlight will showcase the new additions in the newsletter each month. Here is the first update:

As you can see, several films and film-related articles have reached GA and FA status in December. Keep up the good work!

• The Collaboration Department finished its collaboration from last month, Psycho (1960 film). It improved greatly over the two week time period and is now being peer reviewed in preparation for a featured article nomination. The current collaboration, Back to the Future continues to improve. They appreciate any help in editing before the next collaboration is chosen on December 23. You can vote for the next collaboration here.

• The project banner has had a new feature added to help show the past and current collaborations' improvements inside the template. Check out the usage information for details.

• The Assessment Department continues to grade our many articles as they are added. If you feel that you have greatly improved an article or think a grade is outdated, you can go ask the people at the Assessment Department to assess it. You can also view the project statistics there.

• The Peer Review Department has had five new articles this month, with two becoming good articles. Another improvement for that department is MartinBotII listing our peer review pages on the general peer review page, allowing the articles to get more feedback than before.

Member News

• We have had twelve new members to the project this month: Jim Dunning, Joe, Australian Matt, PhantomS, Made of people, Silent reverie86, David Spalding, Schmiteye, Ryan Sanderson, Badbilltucker, Rhthpr, and Daniel Case.
• Cbrown1023 has become an administrator this month. Please contact him on his talk page for any film-related admin help.

Current proposals and discussions

• The Naming Conventions for films have been updated. We are currently discussing whether we agree with the changes to get a consensus and allow them to stay.
• The World cinema pages have been getting a lot of attention and the talk page is littered with different posts relating to it and its new navigation template. The template in question is Template:Worldcinema.
