As this is the dominant genre in American comics at the present time, and the genre is receiving significant exposure in other media as well at the moment, it is proposed this article be worked up to featured article status. Steve block talk 21:37, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

Rorschach567 I've always kind of considered article my baby, not to lessen the importance of any of the other people who have worked hard on it but I've always taken a special interest in it and would love to see it a feature article. I think we need some references, though, and that's a bit difficult because most of the info is stuff every comic geek knows. Are there some books that offer good overviews of American comics or the development of the superhero that we can reference?
