[edit] Scope

This WikiProject seeks to start small(ish) by focusing on the colors themselves and the article for color. We will then set our sights big and try to tackle the other color-related articles!

[edit] Goals

  1. Bring Color article to FA
  2. Organize colors into "major color" categories with fully fleshed out (no pun intended) articles
  3. Discover and improve all color-related articles (Category:Color, Web colors, X11 color names)
  4. Unify the presentation of all color articles and, where possible, all color-related articles
  5. Assist other projects with color advice as needed

[edit] Guiding principles

Details on these principles can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Color/Principles.

  1. Notability and verifiability.
  2. Use of color disclaimer.
  3. Color values only if in a standard.
  4. Strict limits on swatches.
  5. Pre-vetting of acceptable color sources.
  6. Excluding proprietary color spaces.

To be used on each article about an actual color. The format is not necessarily final, and there has been some desultory discussion as to which color spaces should be included.
A change to the format has been proposed to allow for a link to an explanatory article. For information on this, please see the talk page and the more recent Infobox Suggestion
