Wikipedia:WikiProject Bulgaria/Assessment
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome to the assessment department of the WikiProject Bulgaria! This department focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's articles related to Bulgaria. The article ratings are used within the project itself to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.
The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WPBG}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Bulgaria articles by quality and Category:Bulgaria articles by importance.

[edit] Frequently asked questions
- How can I get my article rated?
- As a member of the WikiProject Bulgaria, you can do it yourself. If you're unsure, list it in the section for assessment requests below.
- Who can assess articles?
- Any member of the WikiProject Bulgaria is free to add—or change—the rating of an article.
- Why didn't the reviewer leave any comments?
- Unfortunately, due to the volume of articles that need to be assessed, we are unable to leave detailed comments in most cases. If you have particular questions, you might ask the person who assessed the article; they will usually be happy to provide you with their reasoning.
- Where can I get more comments about my article?
- Contact (to be determined) who will handle it or assign the issue to someone.
- What if I don't agree with a rating?
- Relist it as a request or contact (to be determined) who will handle it or assign the issue to someone.
- Aren't the ratings subjective?
- Yes, they are (see, in particular, the disclaimers on the importance scale), but it's the best system we've been able to devise; if you have a better idea, please don't hesitate to let us know!
If you have any other questions not listed here, please feel free to ask them on the discussion page for this department, or to contact (to be determined) directly.
[edit] Instructions
[edit] Quality assessments
An article's assessment is generated from the class and importance parameters in the {{WPBG}} project banner on its talk page (see the project banner instructions for more details on the exact syntax):
- {{WPBG| ... | class=??? | ...}}
FA |
A |
GA |
B |
Start |
Stub |
Needed |
??? |
The following values may be used for the class parameter to describe the quality of the article:
- FA (adds articles to Category:FA-Class Bulgaria articles)
- A (adds articles to Category:A-Class Bulgaria articles)
- GA (adds articles to Category:GA-Class Bulgaria articles)
- B (adds articles to Category:B-Class Bulgaria articles)
- Start (adds articles to Category:Start-Class Bulgaria articles)
- Stub (adds articles to Category:Stub-Class Bulgaria articles)
- Needed (for articles that do not yet exist but have been identified as subjects that should be covered; adds articles to Category:Needed-Class Bulgaria articles)
- If there is no class defined, three question marks (???) will appear by default

List |
NA |
For pages that are not articles, the following values can also be used for the class parameter:
- Template (for templates; adds pages to Category:Template-Class Bulgaria articles)
- Dab or Disambig (for disambiguation pages; add pages to Category:Disambig-Class Bulgaria articles)
- Cat or Category (for categories; adds pages to Category:Category-Class Bulgaria articles)
- Image (for images; adds pages to Category:Images of Bulgaria)
- List (for lists; adds pages to Category:Bulgaria-related lists)
- NA (for any other pages where assessment is unnecessary; adds pages to Category:Non-article Bulgaria pages)
Articles for which a valid class is not provided are listed in Category:Unassessed Bulgaria articles. The class should be assigned according to the quality scale below.
[edit] Importance assessments
The following values may be used for the importance parameter:
Top |
High |
Mid |
Low |
- Top (adds articles to Category:Top-importance Bulgaria articles)
- High (adds articles to Category:High-importance Bulgaria articles)
- Mid (adds articles to Category:Mid-importance Bulgaria articles)
- Low (adds articles to Category:Low-importance Bulgaria articles)
The parameter is not used if an article's class is set to NA, and may be omitted in those cases. The importance should be assigned according to the importance scale below.
[edit] Quality scale
For the quality scale please use the Category:Bulgaria articles by quality page.
[edit] Importance scale
For the Importance scale use the Category:Bulgaria articles by importance
The criteria used for rating article importance are not meant to be an absolute or canonical view of how significant the topic is. Rather, they attempt to gauge the probability of the average reader of Wikipedia needing to look up the topic (and thus the immediate need to have a suitably well-written article on it). Thus, subjects with greater popular notability may be rated higher than topics which are arguably more "important" but which are of interest primarily to students of military history. Importance does not equate to quality; a featured article could rate 'mid' on importance.
Note that general notability need not be from the perspective of editor demographics; generally notable topics should be rated similarly regardless of the country or region in which they hold said notability. Thus, topics which may seem obscure to a Western audience—but which are of high notability in other places—should still be highly rated.
- The importance scale for the towns, provinces are determined by: High Importance: Capital and population higher than a million.

[edit] Requesting an assessment
It is vital that people not take these assessments personally. It is understood that we all have different priorities and different opinions about what makes a perfect article. It is proposed that coordinator who performs a complete assessment on each page on that list every three months. If you contribute a lot of content to an article you may request an independent assessment.
For new articles please add this template
