[edit] Page moves

Wow Did you read any of the lengthy discussion about the last time someone unilaterally moved these pages? I don't even know where to begin... Did you just ignore consensus? Did you notice that one of the pages was protected precisely because of this? Why did you create the page Coat of arms of the Sahrwai Arab Republic? Were you going to have it deleted, or just leave it? Did you think no one else would notice or care? Why didn't you put a note on their respective talks? -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 19:20, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Why didn't you put a note on their respective talks? -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 19:21, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Flag and coat of arms of the "sadr" is much more accurate
  • I did not remove any page but adjusted the redirects.
  • There is in principle no change as the flag of WS redirects to "sadr"
  • What I will discuss is to delted this redirect and use one that shows both flags, the Moroccan one ond the one of "sadr"
  • The other page was created by mistake. It does not include any wrong information. If you can/want to delete it feel free.
  • I don't like to discuss on my "personal" page as I rarely us it.
  • Go to the respective talk pages and discuss please.
  • If you are angry because you got blocked, then it's not my problem when you fool yourself.
Cheers wikima 20:15, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Wow You totally ignored my questions, making my post almost moot. If you want to discuss this last post, go to Talk:Flag of Western Sahara. If you want to actually address the questions I asked you before, please do so here. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 20:48, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Can oyu pease save me your "wows"? Thanks
  • I'll go to the talk page. It is made to talk I think.

wikima 20:50, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Sure I won't use that particular three-letter word if you really desire. So, are you going to answer my questions, or not? -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 21:24, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
  • I thought we are discussing in the realtive talk page aren't we!?!?
  • And I have ansewered your questions
  • And again lets discuss there not here. Ok? Thanks
wikima 21:26, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Look up I asked you the following:
  • Did you read any of the lengthy discussion about the last time someone unilaterally moved these pages?
  • Did you just ignore consensus?
  • Did you notice that one of the pages was protected precisely because of this?
  • Why did you create the page Coat of arms of the Sahrwai Arab Republic?
  • Were you going to have it deleted, or just leave it?
  • Did you think no one else would notice or care?
  • Why didn't you put a note on their respective talks?
You answered none of these questions directly, and only the first indirectly. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 21:40, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Morocco mediation

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Morocco, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible.

Wikima, I can understand you're fustration at Justin but I implore you to sign this mediation as it is hard for me to see a conclusion which sees the sprited map being taken off the article. If you can get the oter people on the payties list to sign that would be really great as well. Cheers, Aussie King Pin 11:24, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Aussie, thank you for the wise words.
  • The problem with the mediation is that it goes against a consensus
  • But give me a chance to have an other think about it.
Thanks Aussie - wikima 22:00, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Western Sahara flag / coat-of-arms

Hi Wikima,

(The article is about the disputed territory of Western Sahara and not the "sahrawi rep." =>> PLease no flag, no coat of arms. Priority is content - Feel free to adjust the format - Thanks)

I'm confused by your infobox revert; I used "Flag of Western Sahara.svg" and "Coat of arms of Western Sahara.svg"...?  (You may also not be aware that it removed other information...?)  Regards, David Kernow (talk) 23:04, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi David,
  • I am not surprised about your confusion. Western Sahara has been consistently and systematically confused with the [Sahrawi_Arab_Democratic_Republic|"Sahrawi Republic"].
  • This has been with purpose and presents a clear abuse of Wikipedia for pro-polisario activits propaganda.
  • However, further to a neutral point of view, both, Western Sahra and "SADR" are two diferent things
  • The "SADR" is an exiled republic or government which is based in Algeria and which claims Western Sahara
  • Western Sahra is the disputed territory.
  • The flag, coat of arms etc apply to the first one, the "SADR". Western Sahara as disputed territory has no flag and such things.
  • It is mostly administrated by Morocco. In this sense the flag that is effectively and mostly used for Western Sahara would be rather the Moroccan one.
  • But this would not be neutral as a neutral point of view does not recognise the sovereignty of Morocco nor the so called "SADR" (position of the UN or the European Union for instance).
  • Morocco is however recognised as the administrating power in the territory.
  • Sadly this is not the case in Wikipedia. Western Sahara is widely presented as a country, a state etc..
Thanks - wikima 20:19, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your summary. I've restored the infobox, but without the flag and coat-of-arms; is this acceptable...?  Yours, David (talk) 00:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
  • No problem and thanks, David. wikima 21:14, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello,

I agree with your text above. I renamed the Coat of arms of Western Sahara to Coats of arms of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Commons:Category:Coats of arms of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic explains the bad spelling), but I read the archives of Talk:Flag of Western Sahara afterwards. What can we do to restore impartiality? Can this link help? (notice that there is no flag on the right of the country/location name in the dark blue zone). --Juiced lemon 19:32, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello Juiced lemon,

  • Glad to know and thank you. The item is definitely presented in a biased way and must be redone. Wikipedia should not care about Polisario's and pro-Polisario activists opinions.
  • Sources like this that one help as they make it clear that WS is a territory and not a state.
  • This topic had apparently been taken to the Move requests page WP:RM. If you manage to go through the archive then that would be great. Any action in this sense is appreciated.
Thanks & Regards - wikima 20:01, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic

Wikima,
If someone makes a mistake within the work they contribute to an article, please do not simply revert all their work; correct the mistake. Thank you. David Kernow (talk) 05:07, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

David, I reverted to the last version because I couldnot fix the template...
Understood; all that should be required is changing information to the right of the equals signs (=) or deleting entire rows. (If you're unsure about the latter, simply delete the information after the equals sign and someone should tidy-up any strange text that might then show.) Is there anything still incorrect on the template...?  If so, let me know and I'll amend it; by comparing the amended version with the current version you can then see how it was done. Yours, David (talk) 07:44, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Ok David, when others change your changes because there are "mistakes" in them then just don't get back to your version as it was including these same "mistakes".
I guess I try to weigh the amount of work lost by a reversion against the amount kept by not reverting and keeping a few small-scale mistakes.
  • If yo have a look a the comments lines in the history - as you rightly recommend - you will see what these "mistakes" are, respectively what others wanted to change, namely in our case the "Sahrawi Republic", to delete the currency and the calling code from the box.
  • I will try to delete them again, in your template. If then the box shows "strange text" then please come and fix it.
You've successfully deleted them; and I've now replaced them with the value "n/a" ("not appropriate", "not available"). This should remove the "strange text" that has appeared (the names of the parameters deleted). Hope all looks okay to you and that the changes are apparent here.
Thanks - wikima 19:07, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Addendum: Also there was a footnote next to the map (now striped version). Can you fix? Thanks wikima 19:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Do you mean the footnote that was number 3, also now removed...?
Yours, David (talk) 21:17, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
  • I mean the footnote nr 1. It is related to the map and must show there, next to the map. Just take one minute time, use the history, check how it was and make it axactly the same.
Oh, now I understand – sorry not to realize before!  Hope you agree that using the "map_caption =" parameter is an improvement.
  • Please can you simply delete both rows "Currency" and "Calling Code"? If your template cannot do this then I would prefere to go back to the fomer one as it is more flexible and easy to hanlde by users who, like me, don't know about all the technical details.
Thanks - wikima 21:27, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Done. As a result of your requests, the {{Infobox Country or territory}} template is further improved!  Thanks, David (talk) 21:47, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Thank you David! - wikima 21:57, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Amgala

You cannot write this before reading what I'm writing in the Italian language wikipedia  :)): Zuccherinodolce, contributors are always welcome - Please remember only that this is an encyclopedia, that all edits must be neutral and that it is not a place to militate for Polisario, any other organisation or ideology. Thanks and welcome wikima 21:01, 31 October 2006 (UTC) I'm not a member of Polisario, I'm interested in Human Rights and now, in 2007 I'm not sure (declaration in october), is the unique liberation's movement that don't use violence.

I'm sure that RASD/SADR, Polisario and Western Sahara are different and I'm sure that moroccan occupation is not legal before the referendum. The only part of West Sahara where the RASD/SADR is present is Tifariti and Bir-Lehlou. I appreciate some of your correction. In the voice Amgala I think that in the first part there is an error, Can you control it? Amgala is inside the second Moroccan Wall not outside. The map is in italian :)) --Zuccherinodolce 01:48, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Who is a "brick wall" ?!?

I would suggest you have a little think of what you are doing:

  1. You are rejecting a discussion and just reverting without delivering any argument or additional information
  2. And you do by attacking personally someone who is inviting you to discuss, treating him of "brick wall".

You're mixing up things. This is a discussion about the so caled "sadr" -- wikima 20:29, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm not making things up; I said "I've discussed with you before", not "I've discussed the Free Zone with you before". ¦ Reisio 20:34, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Ok this is clarified now, So, you think this allows to block any dialog and to step into an edit/revert war?? -- wikima 20:37, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I think incorrect statements shouldn't be added to articles, period. ¦ Reisio 21:05, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
  • What you're saying is rather generic and vague. Of course incorrect statements should not be added, but who defines whether a statement is correct or not? You, because you say it? Well I am afraid not. And why do you think we do have talk pages next to every single article? To keep edit/revert-warring and reject discussion with co-editors who invite you to do so? -- wikima 21:14, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Morocco Mediation

Given that no one has replied to the mediation within the last 17 days, I am closing it as being stale. From a cursory glance, it appears to me that mediation is no longer needed. However, if this is not the case, then you are more than welcome to file a new case. Thanks. On behalf of the Mediation Committee, ^demon[omg plz] 16:21, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re Template:Infobox Country or territory and Western Sahara

Hi wikima,

I assume that you did the infobox for Western Sahara. If this is the case,
  • Please remove the palce holder for the flag and the coat of arms. They should not appear there. WS is a territory.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. The absence of the {{{image_flag}}} parameter should mean that neither the missing flag nor missing coat-of-arms images should appear, so I'm working to fix this now.

  • Is there a possibility to use something everybody can edit? If not I will make the effort to get the old editing back. Editing should not be dependent on technic.

This is the previous version of the template, which includes a mixture of HTML, wikicode and wikicode-by-templates (i.e. {{!}}, {{!!}}, {{!-}} etc). These three methods are each more or less sensitive to how their code is formatted, i.e. formatting that works in one section of the template's code is likely to produce very different (i.e. dysfunctional) results in another. Are you sure you'd prefer to return to this situation...?
Yours, David Kernow (talk) 16:11, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi David,

  • Thanks for the quick reaction. I appreciate.
  • I don't have a preference to any version. I only find important to make sure coding is no barrier for editing as not everyone is familiar with the tricks of templates for instance
  • Any solution that provides the possibilty for all users to change content easily and without destroying the format is welcome to me.
  • It may help if you could link, in a discret manner, the template at the bottom of the box. Users who wish to make changes will be able to track back to the very template.

Thanks for your effort & regards. wikima 16:18, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

  • I'm glad I happened to be here when you sent your message!  If you visit Western Sahara now, hopefully everything will be back in order.
I understand exactly what you mean about coding; before becoming involved with Wikipedia, I knew almost no HTML, CSS, etc and have learned the little I know now from puzzling over the code here. So I'm keen to make complex code as consistent and readable as possible – hence, for example, the spacing and indentations in the current {{Infobox Country or territory}} code. Maybe, though, you'd prefer a different kind of layout...?  Re providing a link to the template, a {{Tnavbar}} is what's needed, which I'll add now; thanks for this suggestion. Yours, David (talk) 16:42, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
  • David, the box looks right now, thanks for the swift action
  • Re the footer (This box: view • talk • edit), I think this is really good. many of us can follow back with templates and try to find their ways to edit them if needed. However I when I click the links I am guided to empty pages rather. But may be this is to be so. I'll have an other look into the details when I have more time.
Thanks for your help! Regards - wikima 21:13, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Footer: My mistake – should now be corrected. Best wishes, David (talk) 02:00, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
