From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You've been blocked for a week three days, and based on your treatment of your user talk page I'm protecting it as well. If you'd like to request unblock, please email Unblock-en-l@wikimedia.org. Teke (talk) 07:02, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Supplement: I apologize for writing on the fly. The specifics of the block relates to ownership of Portal events, uncivil remarks against Charcor, and the refusal to cease and discuss problems. Nothing but incivility and talk page blankings. Cool off. Teke (talk) 07:12, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Tony, just to settle your concerns about the text that was put here, it's not a curse, it's a quote from Dante's Inferno and it means:

"If I thought my answer were given
to anyone who would ever return to the world,
this flame would stand still without moving any further.
But since never from this abyss
has anyone ever returned alive, if what I hear is true,
without fear of infamy I answer you."

It was also used in T. S. Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock#The_epigraph. Sarah 11:35, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ANI

I've prematurely archived your "complaint" against Teke. The top of WP:ANI states two things:

  1. "[WP:ANI] is not the Wikipedia complaints department."
  2. "Please make your comments concise. Administrators are less likely to read long diatribes."

Your commentary was more for an RFC than something ANI deals with. If you still want to use ANI as your medium, please make a five sentence reason as to how Teke abused his power, and don't cite Something Awful or Criticism of Wikipedia.—Ryūlóng () 21:32, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Tony, I've unprotected your talk page since your block has expired. Sarah 21:43, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Also, the second point I brought up is the more important one here. You can make a formal complaint, but one that is not an essay.—Ryūlóng () 21:48, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
I received your notice and read your complaint, just so you know. For future reference, if the unblock email is unresponsive, you can email most any administrator with your problem for additional review. My purpose for referring you to Unblock was so that others could review my actions. I am sorry you did not get a response from them. Teke (talk) 22:38, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Current events

Thanks for the message and the kind words about the Prodi story. As for the Quebec one, the way it reads at the moment sounds a bit odd to me, but I'm not sufficiently bothered by it to go and change it. See you 'round, Bolivian Unicyclist 23:51, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Death

Pascal Yoadimnadji? Yes, serving head of government, died in office -- gave it some thought, it came close, but I think the guideline still holds. Bolivian Unicyclist 14:08, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Senegalese presidential election, 2007 on Portal:Current events/2007 February 27

Hello, WikiTony. This is a mistake of mine. It's not accurate. The results are not official yet. Please do not restore my mistake as you did here and here. Thanks. --PFHLai 17:22, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I still dont understand why you keep removing the header. Look at every election of any country on the current events page. example: United States Presidential Election, 2008. I know there is no set rule but this is the consensus that WP contributors have come to and i do not appreciate you changing it. I do not claim to own the Current events portal but i do contribute to it very frequently and i think i have some knowledge of how to format it. I will now put the header back but keep what you have written. peace, WikiTony 03:01, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Why ? 'Coz it's taking up too much space. The link was not removed, but incorporated into the sentence. I am not aware of the consensus regarding the "header". The style changes depending on who's running the portal that month or so. It's good that you are maintaining a consistent style and format there. Please edit the line as you see fit. I am more interested in accuracy of the information. I like your passion and enthusiasm, but please bear in mind that this is a wiki afterall. Happy editing. -- PFHLai 14:52, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] International interest??

I see you delete my post here. You claim that it is not related to international interest but I think otherwise as it relates how Wikipedia to the everyone in the world. Well, you can delete it as you see fit. However, I am telling you that wikipedia has no guideline on the definition on international interest whatsoever. So deleting my post on current event is really unnecessary. 71.146.131.153 03:05, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Captain America

I've not returned it to the portal, since it'll obviously come down once again if I do, but I still feel that it merits being there. Superman's death in 1993 surely would have been listed, and this one is on par with that. Simply using prior events as a precident. Again though, its not Captain America dying that is the news, but more that Marvel Comics killed off its World War II-debuting patriotic character during the War on Terror and such. That is the story, moreso than the character's assassination itself. CyclopsScott 21:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please...

I don't want to get into edit wars with someone, but PLEASE leave the Florida-Ohio State basketball game in April 2, 2007 alone. I simple removed two wikilinks and merged the links into seperate team-oriented wikilinks, directing them to the teams rather than the institutions. If you do this again, I will report you with a vandalism charge. NoseNuggets 12:11 PM Apr 4 2007

It's not vandalism. Misusing the term "vandalism" could end up with you in trouble. And also, please sign your posts properly, using four tildes as not everyone knows what/is in your timezone. Also, a suggestion to WikiTony: try not to use the undo button on good-faith edits, just use a normal reversion with an edit summary. It will seem less aggressive this way, because to use undo suggests the edit being undone is vandalism. :) – Chacor 16:31, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

I dont know why you are telling me to "leave the blurb alone." I-ME-WikiTony was the one who originally posted the blurb about the game, about 12 hours before it took place. Perhaps you should follow your own advice and "leave it alone." . Tell me, what is the problem with having a link to the school AND the sports team? IMHO this is normal wiki syntax. for example President of the United States instead of President of the United States. I do not see the problem with having the link to UF and the gators and i dont understand why this bothers you. think about it before you do something foolsh like callng me a vandal.
