User:WikiCats/Table of ranks in Battlefield 2

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Battlefield 2 Ranks - These ranks have to be obtained on ranked servers in the computer game Battlefield 2. These can then be used on unranked servers. Points are only gained on ranked servers. Originally, 2nd Lieutenant was the highest available rank; all subsequent ranks were added in version 1.2 of the game.

  • Temporary rank (must be in the Top 50 on the Global Score Leaderboard)
No

Note: The rank "General" is given to the Top 50 highest scoring Lieutenant Generals on the Leaderboard.

Also note that the game follows the United States Marine Corps ranking system. For the paygrade of E-8 there is Master Sergeant and First Sergeant. Although they both are paid the same, a First Sergeant is considered senior to a Master Sergeant in billet. For the paygrade of E-9 there are three ranks: Master Gunnery Sergeant, Sergeant Major, and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps in order of seniority. Note that there is only one Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps and he is considered the senior enlisted leader per four year term. A Sergeant Major is considered senior to a Master Gunnery Sergeant in billet, but again, these three ranks all make the same pay. In Battlefield 2, a player first receiving Master Sergeant at 20,000 points cannot "upgrade" to First Sergeant, and a player with the rank of Master Gunner Sergeant cannot become a Sergeant Major, even when he has accrued the required awards for the "higher" rank. He must receive the badges necessary for First Sergeant or Sergeant Major before reaching the global score needed for these ranks. The fork has no effect on gameplay, except that the game considers First Sergeant and Sergeant Major to be the more senior ranks than Master Sergeant and Master Gunnery Sergeant respectively when pertaining to the commander position. A player that obtains the Master Sergeant ranking can still achieve a Sergeant Major rank if they collect the required badges before reaching 50,000 points. This does not hold true in the real Marine Corps however.
