Should this be protected? — Infrogmation 15:55, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Yep, it does seem to affect the main logo for some people - so I've protected -- sannse (talk) 16:23, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Good. I thought that would be appropriate. — Infrogmation 20:02, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

There's no reason to protect this, as it isn't even the real wikipedia logo. I say that if you're going to do anything with it, delete it so that it won't make a difference. i386 | Talk 18:11, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)

To clarify - there is a possibility that some browsers do not adequately differentiate between "Wiki.PNG" and "Wiki.png". This seems to mean that if this image is changed it may affect the main logo for some users. This may not be so, it may have been a confusion that led to it appearing that way, but I see no reason to take the chance. I can't think of any good reason not to protect this, any useful file that needs updating can be uploaded under a different name. And deleting just leaves the problem open to being abused at a later date -- sannse (talk) 11:06, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Oh, it absolutely does display as the image at the top left on all pages in some browsers. -- Infrogmation 02:40, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Should the licence agreement ruling the official logo not also apply here? The Official logo is copyrighted and trademarked while this logo is free to use. Am I missing somebody? --Simon Donkers 16:01, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
