Category talk:Wikipedians by number of edits

[edit] Too many categories
- I think there are far too many categories for this. I think there should only be categories corresponding to whatever the userbox says. These should be the only categories for this:
- Wikipedians with over 100 edits
- Wikipedians with over 250 edits
- Wikipedians with over 500 edits
- ...
- Wikipedians with over 100,000 edits
Any thoughts? -AMK152 18:33, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, you are right to a certain extent. However, if the categories correspond to the userbox only, it would be ambiguous. For example, there are many Wikipedians with over 100 edits, thus technically qualifying them to be placed in this category even if they have over 10,000 edits. Thus, these Wikipedians would also belong to the latter category as well, plus ALL categories stating that they are Wikipedians with over 200 edits, Wikipedians with over 500 edits and so on!. If we limit the number of edits by category, for example, Wikipedians with 250-500 edits, only users having this range of edits would belong here. Thus, this would be more appropriate. --Siva1979Talk to me 05:18, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- Simply nest them. — Gulliver ✉ 05:20, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, what i meant was for example if users have the {{100e}} only users using this box will fall under "Wikipedians with over 100 edits" and so on. So, having categories such as the following are much better?:
- Wikipedias with 100 - 250 edits
- Wikipedias with 250 - 500 edits
- Wikipedias with 500 - 1,000 edits
- Wikipedias with 1,000 - 1,500 edits
- Wikipedias with 1,500 - 2,000 edits
- and so on...
