Wigram Baronets

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wigram Baronetcy, of Walthamstow House in the County of Essex, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 30 October 1805 for Robert Wigram. He was a successful merchant and also represented Fowey and Wexford Borough in the House of Commons. The second Baronet also represented Wexford Borough in parliament. He assumed in 1832 by Royal license the surname of FitzWygram. The fourth Baronet was a lieutenant-general in the army and also sat as a Conservative Member of Parliament for Hampshire South and Fareham.

As of 30 June 2006, the presumed present holder of the baronetcy has not successfully proven his succession and is therefore not on the Official Roll of the Baronetage. However, the case is under review by the Registrar of the Baronetage (for more information follow this link).

Another member of the Wigram family was Clive Wigram, 1st Baron Wigram. He was the grandson of Reverend William Pitt Wigram, ninth and youngest son of Sir Robert Wigram, 1st Baronet.
