Regarding section on Withdrawn Passenger Services - Manchester via Tyldesley and the statement local passenger service withdrawn November 1964, with some expresses continuing until 1969. Local train withdrawal in 1964 is not in dispute, but can anyone confirm that expresses did actually run until 1969?

My sources (mainly the book "A Lancashire Triangle") indicate that the last through trains on the Tyldesley to Wigan section were holiday trains, ending in September 1968 (so not really a service for Wigan North Western) and through freight and parcels trains also ceased in 1968.

I suspect some confusion with the Tyldesley - Leigh - Kenyon line, which did indeed close in 1969.EnglishElectric 12:41, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Going off this diff I think User:Jack Rance is the person to ask as he included that date. Either way, the information you have there is well worth including in the history section! Aquilina 12:53, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
