"Why Can't I Be Two People?" is a song from the 1976 film, The Slipper and the Rose. It was written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. It was sung by the Prince (Richard Chamberlain) who laments the inevitable restrictions which being royal, and an heir to the throne of Euphrania, bring on. It is the first song sung in the film and sets up the Prince's motivation.

[edit] Trivia

  • The Sherman Brothers only agreed to participate in the film if producer, David Frost would agree to adopt a fresh angle to the story. This telling of the Cinderella story is unique in that it not only tells Cinderella's side of things, it also shows the Prince's point of view as well. This song is a good example of how that was accomplished.
