From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Why" is a popular hit song. It was recorded by Frankie Avalon in 1959, and went to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the week between December 28, 1959 and January 3, 1960, making it the last number one single of the 1950s, and, at least unofficially, the first number one single of the 1960s. This was Avalon's second and last number-one hit.
