Whitley College (University of Melbourne)

Whitley College, also known as Whitley College: The Baptist College of Victoria, is the Baptist Union of Victoria's theological and ministry college. It is located at 271 Royal Parade, Victoria, Australia.
Whitley College was established in 1891 at the Collins Street Baptist Church. Dr W.T. Whitley was invited to come to Melbourne from England to take up the position of Principal. He remained Prinicipal for the next ten years.
In 1959, the Baptist Union of Victoria began work on a new building for the college and agreed to become an affiliated college of The University of Melbourne. In 1975, Whitley and the Churches of Christ Theological College established the Evangelical Theological Association, which is accredited by the Melbourne College of Divinity to teach undergraduate and postgraduate theology degrees.

The School of World Mission was established in 1988 by Whitley College and World Vision Australia. SWM uses the facilities and resources of Whitley College to teach practical ministry courses which integrate biblical theology with social sciences.
