Whitfield is a Vancouver-based indie rock group comprised of Jobie Mallett (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Sam Bastedo (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Josh McCulloch (bass guitar, backing vocals).
Originally from the UK, singer Jobie united with drummer Sam and bassist Josh in Kamloops, BC. Since moving to Vancouver two years ago, Whitfield has generated a considerable following in the Vancouver area and elsewhere.
A year after publishing and independently distributing their self-titled EP, the band celebrated its second commercial release, Well Behaved & Working for You, on June 9, 2006.
In the last few months, Whitfield has received Best of The Fest award at New Music West 2006, the Peoples Choice award at Toronto Indie Week, and Best Alternative Group at the Toronto Independent Music Awards. The band also recently supported British multi-platinum group Athlete at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.
