Whitehall Mall

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whitehall Mall is a shopping mall located in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. It is owned by Kravco Simon.

The mall opened during the 1960s, with two major department stores. On the west end of the mall was Sears, with Allentown, Pennsylvania-based Zollinger-Harned on the other end. The center also featured Woolworth and a movie theater called the Plaza Theater.

Leh's, a department store chain also based in Allentown, acquired the Zollinger-Harned store in the 1970s. Leh's remained opened in the Whitehall Mall until June 29, 1996. In 1971, a northernly expansion of the mall added Clover as a third department store. Woolworth remained until the chain's closure in 1997. The Plaza Theater closed in 1999.

Whitehall Mall was partially converted to a strip mall in the early 2000s, as the majority of the Sears wing was demolished. Weis Markets moved into the former Leh's space, and Gold's Gym now occupies the former Plaza Theater. The mall still retains a small enclosed portion which leads to Kohl's.

Lehigh Valley Mall is located across the street from Whitehall Mall.
