White fence farm
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
White Fence Farm is the name of a restaurant with locations in Romeoville, Illinois and Lakewood, Colorado.
The original White Fence Farm is the Romeoville (Joliet) location. It is owned and operated by the Robert Hastert family. Manager Robert Hastert Jr. is cousin of former Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert. Robert's nonagenarian mother (Dennis' aunt) can still be seen working as a hostess on occasion.
The restaurant itself features several dining rooms with seating for over 1,000. It also features an antique car collection and petting zoo among other nostalgic displays.
White Fence Farm bills itself as having "the world's greatest fried chicken" which is cooked primarily in a traditional oven, then flash fried for only a few minutes. The restaurant is also known for its corn fritters and brandy ice dessert.
The Colorado location is largely similar to the Romeoville location, however, it is owned and operated as a separate enterprise by the Charles Wilson family.
Hastert's White Fence Farm also operates satellite carry-out locations throughout southwest suburban Chicago.
