White Trash with Money is the latest album by country music superstar Toby Keith, which was released on April 11, 2006. It is Keith's first album on his own Show Dog Nashville label. The album shipped platinum, meaning 1 million or more units were distributed to outlets ahead of its release.
It features 12 tracks, including 3 "Bus songs". Toby Keith wrote or co-wrote all of the songs; co-writing credits go to his long-term writing partner, his friend Scotty Emerick, the singer-songwriter, and Dean Dillon. The album is co-produced by Keith and Lari White, one of few female Nashville producers.
The album's title derives from a disparaging remark made to Keith's daughter about the country music superstar's family. Keith's wife, the story goes, was angered by the description of her husband as "white trash with money"; Keith spied an ideal album title choice.
The first single from the album is "Get Drunk and Be Somebody"; the second is set to be "A Little Too Late". The album showcases Keith's full stylistic range from the up-tempo "Get Drunk and Be Somebody", through the tender ballad "Crash Here Tonight", and the traditional country music sounds of "A Little Too Late" and "Too Far This Time", to the wry "Grain of Salt" and the controversial "Runnin' Block". Keith espouses his redneck credentials on songs such as "Can't Buy You Money", whilst mixing up-tempo rock influenced country with gentler traditional sounds throughout. "Ain't No Right Way" sees Keith's return to political themes, railing against abortion, violence against children, and the curbs on prayer in American public schools. Keith's couldn't-give-a-damn Outlaw country credentials are boosted by the exploration of controversial political, social, and sexual themes.
It is the follow-up to Keith's critically acclaimed double-platinum 2005 album Honkytonk University.
