White Squall is a 1996 movie directed by Ridley Scott, starring Jeff Bridges and John Savage.

The plot is based on a true story. It relates an ill fated summer school sailing trip led by Dr. Christopher B. Sheldon (Jeff Bridges), who the boys call " Skiper",in which the ship sank on 2 May 1961. The Albatross was the ship used for the trip and depicted in the movie. The ship was hit by a white squall on May 2, 1961, sinking almost instantly.

It co-starred Scott Wolf and Ryan Phillippe. Four people aboard the ship perish.

In reality six poeple actually persihed in the incident.
