White Ordinary Portland Cement

White Ordinary Portland Cement or WOPC as it is referred to in the cement industry, is a bright white version of the more common grey Ordinary Portland Cement. The quantity of iron content in the raw material for cement is mainly responsible for the "greyishness". The quantity of iron content is much less in making white cement as compared to grey cement. The whiteness of WOPC is measured as the powdered material having a reflectance value ("L value") in excess of 85%. Due to its lack of natural pigmentation it can be used in formulations where artificial pigments are then introduced to produce decorative effects.
A particular success in the use of WOPC and added pigments is monocouche renders.
