White Mountain, or White Mountain Peak, is the highest peak of the White Mountains of the US state of California. It is also the highest peak in Mono County and the third highest peak in the state, after Mount Whitney and Mount Williamson. It is the fourteenth most topographically prominent peak in the contiguous United States.[1]

The University of California has high altitude research stations on the flank (Barcroft Station) and on the summit of White Mountain. These stations study the effects of altitude on animal physiology.

Each year the White Mountain Research Station opens the locked gate that leads to Barcroft Station, allowing hikers an easier route to the summit. The normal round trip hike is about 14 miles (22.5 km) round trip with less than 3,000 feet (915 m) of gain; the open gate shaves about 4 miles (6.4 km) and 500 feet (152 m) of gain off the round trip.
