Where the Wild Things Are is a film adaptation of a Maurice Sendak picture book of the same name. The film will be directed by Spike Jonze and written by Dave Eggers. It was originally set for release from Universal, and a teaser of the film was attached to How the Grinch Stole Christmas, a vehicle from the same studio. However, disagreements with Jonze led him to take the film to Warner Bros. The film's target release date is October 3, 2008.[citation needed] The movie is expected to combine live action and CGI.

The cast includes Catherine Keener, James Gandolfini, Angus Sampson, Benicio Del Toro, Forest Whitaker, Michelle Williams, Catherine O'Hara and Paul Dano.[citation needed]
