Where Boys Fear to Tread is a song by The Smashing Pumpkins. It featured on the band's double disc album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, where it was the first song on the second disc. "Where Boys Fear to Tread" was written by Billy Corgan. It samples the rocket launcher from id Software's Doom. This sound effect points to the relationship between Doom and the Smashing Pumpkins in the SPISPOPD joke.
In a magazine interview, Corgan revealed that the master take was a first time run-through, with him signalling different sections of the band. The ending is an edit as Jimmy Chamberlin wanted to keep playing so they edited an ending on[citation needed].
