When I Dream was Crystal Gayle's second consecutive #2 Country Album on the Billboard charts, which eventually proved to be the high point of her career. There were two singles from the album that rose to the #1 spot: "Talking in Your Sleep" (also a Top 20 Pop hit) and "Why Have You Left the One You Left Me For." The title song, "When I Dream," which is a re-recorded version of a song that appeared originally on her début album Crystal Gayle, did almost as well at #3, while the fourth released single, "Heart Mender," could only manage a #58 ranking.
