Wheaton High School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wheaton High School is a ninth through twelvth grade high school located in the Wheaton/Glenmont section of Silver Spring, Maryland, and is part of the Montgomery County Public School system [1] in Montgomery County, Maryland. The school is named for that area, which is in turn named for Frank Wheaton (1833-1903), a career officer in the Union Army who rose to the rank of major-general while serving before, during, and after the Civil War.

Wheaton sports have improved during the last few years, and continue to do so. Their rival, due to tradition, past performances, and proximity, is John F. Kennedy High School, home of the Cavaliers.

Wheaton High School has three main academies of education: The Academy of Biosciences and Medicine, the Academy of Engineering, and the Academy of Information Technology.

The school is also connected physically to the Thomas Edison High School of Technology, named for the famous American inventor.

The mascot of the school is the Wheaton Knight, who represents the valor, chivalry, and bravery to which all of the students at Wheaton High School aspire.
