[edit] Sheet metal tyre
At first glance the wheel appears to have been repaired with sheet metal like galvanized iron, but then why is every spoke that coincides with the joint in the metal "tyre" wider than the other spokes? Were these spokes made this way from the outset to accomodate the "tyre" segments? Why was a metal hoop not used as a "tyre" and to pre-stress the wheel as was the recent custom?Gregorydavid 07:56, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
