The phrase "What would Reagan do?" (often abbreviated to WWRD) has became popular in the United States in the 2000s as a personal motto for thousands of Conservative Republicans who used the phrase as a reminder of their belief that Ronald Reagan is the best example of a conservative politician, and that all Republicans should act in a manner of which Reagan would approve. The initialism WWRD is sometimes also used. It is a phrase used to lambast what many Republicans perceive as the big spending tendency of the Republican Party. It originated by analogy from the earlier phrase "What would Jesus do?".
