What Have We Learned, Charlie Brown?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What Have We Learned, Charlie Brown? is an animated television special based upon the comic strip Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz, who introduced the special. It originally aired on the CBS network in 1983.

The special follows the feature film Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don't Come Back!!). Charlie Brown, Linus, Snoopy, Peppermint Patty, and Marcie are returning from their student exchange in France. Their problematic rented car slows their progress, and while they travel, they have an opportunity to see several memorials to World Wars I and II. They come away realizing what the impact of the wars was, and how important the sacrifice of the soldiers was. One of the most moving moments of the special is Linus' recitation of the poem In Flanders Fields.

The special was given a Peabody Award for "distinguished achievement and meritorious public service" in broadcasting.
