"What Are We Doin' In Love" is a popular duet Countrypolitan song by Dottie West and Kenny Rogers.

[edit] Summary

This song had been the first duet hit for Kenny Rogers and Dottie West in over 2 years. Since 1978, West and Rogers had been together as a duet partnership. It was Rogers who revived the career of Dottie West when their song "Every Time Fools Collide" became a hit in 1978. They became on eof the most successful duet partnerships since then. However, in 1980, both went their separate ways to become solo artists again. "What Are We Doin' In Love" was released on Dottie West's highly successful 1981 album Wild West. The duet hit was probably the reason for its success. west also had a #1 hit that year with "Are You Happy Baby", which was on her Wild West album. The song became a crossover hit for the two, reaching #1 on the Country charts and #14 on the Pop charts as well as #7 on the Adult Contemporary charts.

The song became Dottie West's first Pop hit and one of many Pop hits for Kenny Rogers. The song became one of their signature duet hits. It also won the two a CMA award. After the song's success, the duet partnership between West and Rogers vanished forever, as both singers went back into their solo careers.
