WFYI is the call sign of two stations operated by a not-for-profit corporation, Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Broadcasting, Inc. :

• WFYI channel 20 is the local PBS member station for Indianapolis, Indiana and surrounding areas since it first signed on October 4, 1970. It is currently run by Lloyd Wright. Its most notable original series is Across Indiana, which has won several awards. Other original programming has included Reel Time and Indiana Week in Review.

• WFYI-FM (90.1) is a member station of National Public Radio. It was formerly operated by Indianapolis Public Schools as WIAN-FM.

• WFYI (TV) was originally seen on low-powered repeater W39AA in Fort Wayne in the early-1980s (previously occupied by Bowling Green's WBGU-TV); that channel became a separate, full-powered PBS affiliate WFWA in mid-1985.

• In the 1960s the call letters WFYI were assigned an AM radio station in suburban New York City. WFYI was a 10,000 watt daytime broadcaster and was one of several area radio stations that were part of Tribune Broadcasting, all owned by the Whitney family's New York Herald Tribune. The studios and offices were located in the lower level of the Roosevelt Field shopping center in Garden City. The transmitter (and, in the final years, the studio) was on the Whitney Estate in Westbury. WFYI was replaced on 1520 khz in 1969 by gospel broadcaster WTHE.
