[edit] About Me

Howdy! I am Wesley Fryer, an educator and parent currently residing in Edmond, Oklahoma, USA. I maintain an active blog, frequently post website discoveries to my del.icio.us account, and often am online via Skype (userid: wfryer) as well as my other IM accounts. I use WikiPedia frequently and periodically contribute some edits and new pages. I have diverse interests, but am generally focused these days on promoting constructivist/inquiry-based learning in schools and the effective use of digital resources to engage learners. I've been strongly influenced in my thinking about learning and educational technology by John Dewey, Paulo Freire, Neil Postman, Lawrence Lessig, and others.

I'm working on finishing my dissertation in Curriculum and Instruction in 2007 from Texas Tech University, and am focusing on the impact of a 1:1 learning environment and digital curriculum/tools on student writing skills.

I will add more to this user page later. My inspiration for this was Samuel Klein's user page. (Yes, I know this is a poor attempt at emulation!) I'm not a WikiPedia-guru, but I know this environment is extremely powerful and important for the knowledge landscape of the 21st century. That's why I'm here!
