Westwood Cross is a shopping plaza in Thanet, East Kent. It was built by Carillion and opened in June 2005.
The plaza's main stores are Next, Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and TK Maxx. Other Chain Stores include H&M, Waterstones, WHSmith, HMV, Dorothy Perkins and Evans. The shopping plaza doesn't have a designated food hall, but does include well known eateries including Subway, Greegs Bakery and Costa Coffee. There is a Sainsbury's, McDonalds and a large two-floor Tesco Extra next door, although these aren't affilated with Westwood Cross, as these have been here years before it was built.
The shopping plaza has been well received by local people and the press as it is quite small, and is actually outside, so it could compare to a retail park. There is a small bus station at the front of the plaza, where local buses stand for a while instead of the local bus garage now. Buses serving it are operated by Stagecoach Group and Eastonways, the Thanet Loop also serves the centre after some re-routing. The nearest train station is Ramsgate railway station, which is around 2 miles away. The next nearest shopping establishment is in Margate town Centre, although this is just a small town centre with few major shops.
