Westwood, Greater Manchester

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Westwood is an area in the west of the town of Oldham, in Greater Manchester, England.

Westwood has a sizable community of people of Bangladeshi origin; which is one of England's largest such communities.

Given its large South Asian population, Westwood is home to an increasing number of traditional and modern Bangladeshi restaurants and jewellers.

Westwood's proximity to Chadderton and Royton has in recent years led to increased development in amenities and infrastructure. Westwood is now home to a large Tesco superstore, B&Q warehouse and the Oldham Millennium Centre.

Westwood forms part of the Oldham West and Royton parliamentary constituency.
