Westminster Christian Academy is an independent, K-12 grade college-preparatory school in Watkinsville, GA. It was founded by a group of like-minded Christian families in the late eighties as a homeschool group where their children's education would be based on biblical principles. During its first year, the academy employed one teacher and had only twelve students. The school continued to rent its classrooms from several area churches until, in 1998, a new campus was completed on thirty acres of land in Oconee County. At the end of the 98-99 school year, Westminster saw its first class graduate. Since then, the school has continued to operate in the same location.
[edit] Athletics
Westminster Christian Academy's eighteen sports teams compete within the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA). These teams include soccer and basketball teams for both boys and girls, along with baseball and girls' volleyball. In the Fall of 2003, Westminster fielded its first varsity football team.
[edit] Uniform
Here at WCA, students are required to wear a uniform. This uniform consists of a polo shirt of any color (solid, not two-toned) and khaki or navy pants for boys. Girls can also wear a polo shirt (same rules apply), pants of khaki or navy color, a jumper of khaki or navy color, a skirt of khaki or navy color, or a skort of khaki or navy color. On Fridays however, all students are allowed to participate in what is known as "Casual Friday". This consists of the ability to wear jeans (they cannot be ripped), a Westminster shirt or a striped polo. This applies to all students.
